U.S. Official Harmonized Tariff Schedule
The U.S. International Trade Commission maintains the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States. Customs officials use the Harmonized Tariff Schedule to classify imported merchandise to determine duty rates and collect information on imports coming into the United States.

The ITC has created a searchable online tool that makes it easier for visitors to find the HTS code for a given item and see both general rates of duty as well as special rates for countries that receive preferential rates due to participation in programs such as GSP and AGOA.

The U.S. determines HTS codes in coordination with the World Customs Organization, whose members periodically negotiate updates the Schedule to reflect changes in international trade. If you have questions about an HTS classification, please contact Joe O’Donnell.
