60th Annual Event Promises Innovative Business Solutions, Market Intelligence
and Networking with over 300 Attendees from Robust Global Imported Woods Market

Alexandria, Virginia – The global wood products market remains vibrant but challenging as industry efforts to meet demand for high quality and affordable wood products must be balanced with increasingly complex industry regulations. It is an opportune time for the 60th World of Wood Annual Convention, which will take place April 6-8, 2016, at the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas. The annual convention hosted by the International Wood Products Association (IWPA) provides access to over 300 importers, U.S. manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, offshore suppliers and service providers to the global wood products industry from nearly 30 countries.

“We have assembled three packed days of informative presentations by industry leaders, networking opportunities and market-focused events. Attendees will head home with new ideas for their business, the latest market intelligence, and new contacts from every link in the global wood products supply chain,” said IWPA President Craig Forester of Rex Lumber Company. Sessions will cover critical topics including Economic Trends and Market Projections for Wood Products, compliance with Lacey Act and CITES, U.S. Customs Classification and Audits, EPA & CARB Formaldehyde Emission Rules, Sustainable Trade Opportunities and Challenges and Leadership and Business Strategies.

Marc Chandler, Brown Brothers Harriman Global Head of Currency Strategy, will open Thursday’s program with a discussion focused on the latest currency trends and how they will impact the complex global wood products market. Chandler is the former Chief Currency Strategist for HSBC Bank USA and Mellon Bank. A prolific writer and speaker, Chandler's essays have been published in the Financial Times, Barron's, Euromoney, Corporate Finance, and Foreign Affairs. He is the author of the book Making Sense of the Dollar from Bloomberg Press.

Executive Coach Dean Savoca of the Savoca Performance Group will keynote Friday’s program with his presentation entitled “Increase Influence: Eight Essential Attributes of Successful Leaders.” Savoca has conducted more than 8,000 individual executive coaching sessions and dozens of corporate strategic planning sessions on his way to compiling a definitive list of attributes that are critical to effective leadership. He will walk attendees through processes that focus attention on core issues in their businesses and drive action that will result in improved performance, higher productivity, enhanced teamwork and an improved bottom line. Savoca will also lead a smaller breakout session that will help attendees understand their role as a coach who must push their team to achieve success in every task they undertake.

Attendees and their families can also take advantage of fun activities and networking events including the IWPA Annual Golf Classic and an Austin favorite, armadillo racing. Austin is also the live music capital of the world with more than 250 venues where on any given night the sounds of rock, country, indie, and Tejano music echo throughout the streets. The three-day event will take place at the brand new JW Marriott Austin, situated in the heart of the city and a short 15-minute drive from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
