IWPA makes no apologies about its efforts to educate Members of Congress and federal regulators about how implementation of a flawed rule would lead to a higher costs for U.S. consumers and reduced competitiveness for U.S. produced goods in the global marketplace without a corresponding public health benefit. We have done this through the Public Comment process and through meetings with policymakers.

We would direct readers to IWPA's Statement on Formaldehyde Emissions in Composite Wood Products, which was issued in the wake of the '60 Minutes' piece on formaldehyde emissions for laminate wood flooring purchased at Lumber Liquidators. In it, IWPA Executive Director Cindy Squires stated that "IWPA remains committed to partnering with CARB and EPA to ensure that producers from around the world are able to meet the existing requirements as well as the new regulations being developed by EPA. Consistency between the CARB ATCM and EPA regulations will be critical to achieve swift national application of these strict emission standards."
