Alexandria, Virginia – The 60th World of Wood Annual Convention hosted by the International Wood Products Association is the only event that brings together individuals and businesses from every segment of the North American imported woods industry. The event takes place April 6-8 and IWPA is planning sessions that will cover critical topics including Economic Trends and Market Projections for wood products, compliance with Lacey Act and CITES, U.S. Customs Classification and Audits, EPA & CARB Formaldehyde Emission Rules, Sustainable Trade Opportunities and Challenges and Leadership and Business Strategies.
Today IWPA Executive Director Cindy Squires is excited to announce a panel discussion entitled CITES and Climate Change – Forecast for the Future. This panel will feature Anne St. John of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Division of Management Authority which is responsible for the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in the United States, Linda Walker, Director of the World Wildlife Fund’s Global Forest & Trade Network-North America, and will be moderated by Chip Barber, Director of the Forest Legality Alliance at the World Resources Institute. “This panel will give attendees the latest information about how the Paris climate agreement will impact the global wood products trade as well as what to expect from the upcoming Conference of Parties of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora next summer in Johannesburg,” said Squires.
In addition to top-notch speakers and informative panels that will provide you with the latest market intelligence, regulatory developments, and global perspectives, the World of Wood Convention offers unparalleled networking opportunities. Over 300 importers, U.S. manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, offshore suppliers and service providers to the global wood products industry from nearly 30 countries gather for this annual event.
The three-day event will take place April 5-8 at the brand new JW Marriott Austin, situated in the heart of the city and a short 15-minute drive from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The IWPA room block expires March 4, 2016.
