CARB FAQ's Listed
IWPA continues to receive questions regarding the implementation of the CARB regulation.   IWPA's updates and CARB FAQ's on what importers need to know here.

LACEY Amendment Adopted
The Lacey Act illegal logging amendment was included in the recently passed Farm bill. The amendment regulates trade in wood products (both domestic and international) to ensure timber and other plant resources are legally sourced. The amendment contains a declaration requirement effective November 18, 2008. The declaration must contain:  (A) the scientific name of any plant (including the genus and species of the plant) (B) a description of the value of the importation; and the quantity, including unit of measure (C) the name of the country from which the plant was taken.  IWPA is working with the relevant federal agencies to construct a  declaration format that is not unduly burdensome.
