IWPA Awards for Excellence

Creating compelling and unique designs for both residential and commercial spaces often begins with exotic woods. They are recognized for their beauty, warmth and durability, and can transform any project into an award winner.

Now entering the 4th year, the 2013 IWPA Awards honor excellence in architectural or design work in aesthetic, innovative and environmental excellence.  From the forest to the use of exotic woods in small spaces or tall buildings, and anything underneath like plywood, IWPA wants to see all the possibilities.  The awards program also shows how the increased specification and use of tropical wood products leads to the expansion of sustainable forest management and supports forest-dependent communities.

Submission Deadline: March 15, 2013

This annual awards competition is open to both members and non-members alike, and individuals or companies including architects/designers are invited to enter. The winners will be announced during a special presentation at the IWPA convention, April 17-19, 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia and featured in IWPA's award-winning International Wood magazine.

There is no limitation on the number of nominations you may submit, however each nomination must be written to address the specific criteria of each award category. The three categories are as follows:

  • Aesthetic Excellence: For company incorporating imported wood species in visible applications.
  • Environmental Excellence: For company making practical and inspiring advancements in forest conservation.
  • Innovative Excellence: For company implementing innovative solutions to using, manufacturing and marketing wood products.
